Scale Patterns and Alternate Fingerings

Let’s begin this section with a series of scale patterns using various rhythms. We’ll start by using the fingerings for the one-octave major and minor scales from previous chapters, then we’ll apply some alternate fingerings to expand your scale vocabulary.

For this first pattern, we’ll use a combination of eighth and quarter notes to ascend the G major scale in sections, then we’ll reverse the pattern and descend the scale.
